Wish List Garden Shed by Nathalie de Leval for Paul Smith

Bespoke furniture designer/ maker Nathalie de Leval has designed and built a garden shed for fashion icon Paul Smith.

Details: Measuring three metres by three metres, the shed is inspired by Luis Barragán’s angular style of architecture and is complete with a panelled glass wall. As with George Bernard Shaw’s famous writing hut, it sits on a revolving platform, allowing for perennial sun-chasing and making it the ideal room with a view.

Says Smith, “The shed is 3m by 3m, the same size as my first ever shop in Nottingham. Completely coincidentally, Matisse’s famous cut-out ‘The Snail’ is also the same size.”

The shed is a wish come true, part of the American Hardwood Export Council and Benchmark Furniture’s Wish List project that made a series of wishes come true for 10 design legends for the 2014 London Design Festival.

The shed will be presented at the Victoria and Albert Museum during the London Design Festival from September 13th to October 24, 2014.
