Urban Marsh by Anne Neely

Since reading Marq de Villier’s Water, The Fate of Our Most Precious Resource, a tome about the world water crisis, Anne Neely has been drawn to the wonders of water. She writes in her artist’s statement, “Consequently, I made paintings of “unseen” water found in aquifers and groundwater as well as water on the earth’s surface … Although I am moved by the challenges we face today preserving water, for me the greater challenge is in my studio where, in some small way, I attempt to convey the beauty of this essential resource and what we are giving up by ignoring it.” Beautifully layered work.
