Olive Ayhens’ watercolour and ink drawings of New York City are reflective of the chaotic hodge-podge of urban life. The streetscapes and buildings evoke the emotion of everyday living in the urban core. Some of the work from Ayhens’ new series of drawings includes views of the construction site of the 9-11 memorial, particularly interesting, poignant even, because the artist had a studio in the former World Trade Center, where she began her studies of New York from on high.
