Plantation by Alicja Patanowska

plantation_alicja_patanowska.jpg Disused and abandoned glasses get a second, productive life with Alicja Patanowska‘s Plantation.

Details: A porcelain object made to rest in a common glass, Plantation allows for the observation of the growing process of plants, both its stem as well the root. “These unique porcelain components are suitable for growing plants and when turned upside down can be used as a mini greenhouse, ideal during seed germination.” says Patanowska.

Designer: Alicja Patanowska graduated from the Ceramics & Glass program at the Royal College of Art (MA RCA 2014) and the Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw. The duality of function and sculptural qualities in her work illustrates the inherent link between art and design.
