Orwell, a cross between a sofa, bed and cabin invites the user to climb in and re-live childhood memories.
Details: Barcelona-based Goula / Figuera‘s Orwell is sofa-shaped, with a high back, over which heavy quilted curtains can be drawn down to insulate against sound and create a “cabin”-like experience.
Its size, similar to that of a bed, allows it to be used either sitting or lying down.
The name Orwell, the author of ‘1984’, references the original idea of the product, “which was to recapture that intimacy which can sometimes be lost, even within our own homes.” says Goula / Figuera.
“Orwell invites you to rest it in its interior and resuscitate that childhood memory of a ‘cabin’, that magical, hidden place that all children wished they had.”
