Encased against typhoons, with an interlocked skeleton for earthquake resistance, Onjuku Beach House by Bakoko is a tough little getaway (and future retirement home) located on Japan’s Pacific coast just south of Tokyo. A traditional Japanese tongue-and-groove wood framing technique is used for shock-proofing, but executed in a fraction of the historical time thanks to robotic precutting.

The frame was pounded together with mallets (then reinforced with bolts) in just one day, and clad with weather-ready stained cedar. Via designboom.
