Artist Natasha Wittke, an avid canoeist, has brought the bold graphics her company Norquay Co. is known for – on canoe paddles – to the canoe itself. It’s a collaboration with Canadian canoe manufacturer abitibi.
Details: The exclusive line of hand-painted canoes, a collaboration of function and design, includes three unique designs available in two color options, each painted by hand on a classic abitibi Prospector 15 (15 foot) infused kevlar canoe.
Crafted in Canada, more than 50 hours of work go into details including wood gunnels, wood seats and a deep dish yoke.
Though all abitibi canoes are built for greater durability and protection against the elements, the special edition Norquay x abitibi canoes are not recommended for the unforgiving demands of back-country canoe-tripping and shallow water. Instead, as the company says, “the hand painted canoes designed by Norquay Co. are great for touring the lake waters near your cabin and exploring the deep rivers of North America.”
