Moods by Kiki van Eijk
Kiki van Eijk’s latest project is a series of Murano glass objects that symbolize seven of life’s most important basic concepts. An ancient drinking vessel, the amphora, symbolizes our need for hydration. To stay alive, the body (composed of 70% water) needs a constant flow of … Drink!
Eat!
A totem to eating is created out of a ladle, a kitchen trolley, a pot and a side table, all in shades of blue that add an element of fun to a basic need that is common to all.
Rest!
Rest brings relief and rejuvenation, and the hourglass balanced on a stack of pillows reminds us of the need to slow down.
Love!
Love is symbolized by the watering can that is essential in the process of growth and the candles that provide warmth and light while melting together.
Dream!
Dreaming is one of the most enchanting phenomena in life. This is what makes it a paradise.” The bubbles rising out of the mirrored bottle symbolize our dreams.
Fun!
Fun is portrayed by the combination of a balloon growing out of a trumpet, emphasizing our need for humour.
These pieces, conceived for Venice Projects, will be shown during Dutch Design Week.
