Curated by illustrator Bil Donovan, Fashion Illustration: Visual Poetry is a group exhibition of artwork that focuses, obviously, on the world of fashion. Illustration can often be perceived (by some) as less than true art, given its commercial context, but when combined with fashion, well, you’ve just upped the ante. Take a look at Tobie Giddio’s portfolio to see the magic of colour and line. Or Samantha Hahn’s soft, feminine illustrations in ink and Tina Berning’s moody heroines. Once you start perusing fashion illustration, it is difficult to resist the drama and glamour.
Fashion Illustration: Visual Poetry runs from January 20 – February 25, 2011 at Gallery Hanahou in New York.
