Human Behaviour by Shaka

French artist Shaka (Marchal Mithouard) uses a variety of shapes and lines filled with a rainbow of colour to build his depictions of human behaviour, such as the figures precariously balanced on a mountain of empty drawers. It is certain that, lacking stability, they will come to grief. In other works, Shaka sculpts directly onto his canvas to create a startling 3D effect that heightens any sense of the subject’s (and perhaps viewer’s) internal conflict.

Work by Shaka was recently on view at gallery nine5 in New York.
