Herring and Philosophy Club by Maira Kalman

As we are huge fans of Maira Kalman’s delightful illustrations of everyday life, we can’t pass up the opportunity to mention the current exhibition of her work. Kalman is not afraid to recognize her influences, so you will see riffs on photos by Cartier-Bresson or paintings by Matisse among other colorful takes on the simplicity and richness of life seen through Kalman’s eyes. Herring and Philosophy Club is an illustration done for Gourmet magazine in 2006.
