Riersom Residence by Salmela Architect

Guest cabin deluxe: Riersom Residence by Salmela Architect, in Tofte, Minnesota (USA), is a guest house perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Superior.

Avoiding landscape interruption, the existing foundations of an old garage and a defunct wind generator are reused. Living/dining/kitchen area, gathering/gaming room, bedroom and master bedroom, bathrooms and sauna are split between two levels and a loft, with full-height windows offering unobstructed views, a star-gazer's skylight, and a paved terrace roof. Super-insulated walls and triple-glazed windows ensure energy efficiency. Low-maintenance materials, interior and exterior, were selected for natural aging. Photos by David Getty. Via ArchDaily .
