Updating a model sustainable home from 1933, A New Norris House by College of Architecture & Design, Univeristy of Tennessee Knoxville, in Norris, TN, marks the 75th anniversary of the Norris Project, one of the first planned communities in the US, featuring compact family homes that tested new building materials and methods, and incorporated innovations like municipal electricity, water, and sanitary systems.

The New Norris is LEED-platinum certified, employing efficient energy design, green materials and offsite construction, and complies with local historic preservation building codes.
