Smart Replicas by Maaike Roozenburg
by Ted Savage / February 11, 2013
Making the untouchable, touchable, and able to tell a story, Smart Replicas by Maaike Roozenburg are precise copies of fragile historical objects, with richly immersive multimedia notes. Noninvasive medical CT scanning and 3D printing from Mareco Prototyping BV are used to create microscopically detailed duplicates, that are mapped to an augmented reality display of background information. Seven teacups from the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Netherlands, were used for the first prototypes, and will be on interactive exhibit there beginning in May. More at Smart Replicas. Via
