From @troveline, portraits of queens past explores questions of identity in their new wallpaper.

As part of their science-inspired Spring 2012 collection, Trove's new August pattern portrays past queens from Denmark, Japan, Romania, Greece, Prussia, Italy, and India and reinterprets them.

With images that glimmer with faded majesty and from collective memory, August is a statement of how the human mind forgets, individually and en masse.

Says Trove, "Though the queens have their reigning place in history, what remains is their title or crown, reduced here to a visual status. Over time, they have lost their individual identities and what were significant annotations regarding their influence on the chain of events which is now inherent to our current societies."

"For August, Trove references the work of Cindy Sherman who also explores identity through the use of photography." More at Trove.
