Saraceno calls his works "biospheres, organic dimensional meshworks that hover in the room, sometimes adorned with plants, sometimes simply suspended by black nets." Having originally studied architecture, the artist's starting point for his works is his interest in man's current and future living environment and society.

Cloud Cities is on display at the National Gallery in Berlin from September 15th, 2011 to January 15th 2012 in the Hamburger Bahnhof "Museum für Gegenwart" (Museum for Contemporary Art). Photos: Jens Ziehe.
