The Last Minute Urns And Symbolic Burial Objects by Patrycja Domanska
by Ted Savage / August 28, 2011
From Patrycja Domanska, a collection of four pieces, both symbolic and functional, inspired by "rituals and traditions from various different cultures ... dealing with the concepts of memory and transience."

The series consists of urns and objects used in burial rites: a sea urn inspired by the "death ship" and burial over water, a tear jug in which a flower is placed in collected mourner's tears, a figure urn, its lid adorned with figurines embodying the dead, and coins, symbolizing remembrance and paying the way on death's journey. Materials: ceramics, porcelain, metal.
