KidRobot: The MunNY
by Harry / May 16, 2010
Designer toy maker KidRobot asked 23 of New York's best and brightest designers to re-interpret their iconic Munny (Munny figures are soft vinyl figurines which resemble cartoon animals based on urban graffiti). Last night was the exhibition party for The MunNY at the Ace Hotel.

Curators Joe Doucet and Chad Phillips asked the question "What would happen if you had every generation of the greatest designers interpreting a modern day design icon?"

Highlights from the show included Frederick McSwain's Ice Munny which was being carved while we watched (the shavings used to make flavored snow cones!), Marcus Tremonto's flatulent Munny, Joe Doucet's cement Munny statue replete with bird dropping and grassy plot, Tobias Wong and Various Project's furry angora sweater Munny and Josee Lepage's Munny scent, a perfume that smells like money.

The resulting works will be auctioned on Ebay to benefit The Robin Hood Foundation.
