Flat Table by Jo Nagasaka+Schemata Architecture Office

By pouring epoxy into holes in a Styrofoam table, Jo Nagasaka + Schemata Architecture Office are able to strengthen the panels and firm up the table’s joints.

The FLAT TABLE凸凹 convexo-concave

Holes are made in the Styrofoam where epoxy, when poured over the sheet, drains and gathers. The hardened foam and epoxy then acts as the molder’s flask, which is the frame for holding a sand mold in a foundry.

Hardened, the epoxy gives the table strength it wouldn’t normally have.
