Modern Contemporary Design

Crimson Charge by David Lidbetter

Based in Ottawa, David Lidbetter explores the wooded areas close to home and, working with oils on panel, compiles his impressions into compositions that can border on the abstract. Showing a preference for winter landscapes, Lidbetter is drawn to compositional opportunities offered by the white ground. The work and vistas are unmistakably Canadian; it is, indeed, difficult to avoid references to the legacy left by Tom Thompson and the Group of Seven. Wanderings, Lidbetter’s upcoming exhibition, is a contemporary walk in the woods.

Wanderings opens March 7 and runs through March 28 at Muse Gallery in Toronto.
