“Attempt”

demand_attempt_jun_06.jpg

Thomas Demand started out as a sculptor, a background that stands him in good stead as he re-creates life-sized scenes he finds in the media out of cardboard and paper before photographing them. Attempt is a depiction of the studio of an artist targeted by the Baader-Meinhof terrorists, while Room is a reconstruction of the hotel room where L. Ron Hubbard worked on his book, Dianetics, and Gate is the security area of an airport.
