I is for Pulsating Flowers by Elizabeth Corkery
by sabine7 / August 10, 2011

Elizabeth Corkery's installation is a visually gripping piece based on synaesthesia ("the experience of one sense is accompanied by the involuntary experience of one or more additional senses") and a whole lotta colour. Inspired by a woman whose gas stove ignition triggers visions of pulsating flowers, the set is a backdrop of geometric designs that are derived from graphic design, painting, screenprinting and textiles. The mix of pattern and colour creates a hyper-sensory experience, appearing to pulsate in a disturbing, yet delightful, manner.
