A Million Times Clock by Per Emanuelsson and Bastian Bischoff
by Harry / February 26, 2013

288 special two-handed analogue clocks powered by 576 electrical engines drive the minute- and hour hands of the A Million Times Clock by Humans since 1982.

Re-contextualizing time in a mix of old and new, analogue and digital, the clock is made of 288 traditional two-handed analogue alarm clocks stacked on top of each other.

"All 288 clock houses together create one giant display similar to that of a digital display, all hands move to their new location, creating a choreography of 576 rotating hands to form extensive texts besides elaborate customized patterns and graphics." says gallery Victor Hunt.

"Locked in its functionality to show the time, the natural character inherent to an analogue clock with its two arms constantly dancing in slow motion around the center, unveils hidden figurative qualities without denying its primary purpose."

A Million Times will be unveiled at Design Days Dubai at the end of March.
