Stockholm Furniture Fair 09: Coffee Ceremony by Martin Horgan
by sabine7 / February 26, 2009

There was a lot of exceptional student work shown at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, such as the Coffee Ceremony Table by Martin Horgan of Steneby, the Stenebyskolan Foundation and the School of Design and Crafts at University of Gothenburg. The individual mini-tables for each beverage makes this a visually striking piece of furniture. Bobby Petersen, also of Steneby, is the creator behind a desk that has a lid that tidily stores the work in progress when the desk is needed as a table. The Oslo National Academy of the Arts was well represented by the Under Construction exhibition, including chairs by Camilla Hounsell Halvorsen and Jo Hass Korneliussen. Drops is a colourful fabric-wrapped ring perched upon steel legs, and Hiatus is a chair designed for spaces where a quick seat is needed. Made from one piece of plywood, Hiatus plays up its gaps and spaces and looks different from every angle.
