Tokyo Design Week 2007 - 100% Design: Installations
by sabine7 / November 7, 2007

More often than not, we are used to seeing clean photos of design objects at their purest. Not so, of course, with shows like 100% Design Tokyo where people and products intermingle. This sort of set up allows us to see design as it was meant to be, used and abused by visitor traffic. However, some pieces are exhibited in groupings, or almost as installations. The impact of many ghostly lights dangling from the ceiling together, or a shower of red floating down, cannot be overlooked. Some items lend themselves well to display, like tableware from TN – Design, while the toilet from Toto takes on glamour through an effective light show. Emmanuelle Moureaux’s Stick Chairs spilled over each other in a joyous explosion of colour, and Nichiesu’s canopied resting area provides a calming oasis.
