Algae Lamp by Christian Vivanco

algae_lamp_christian_vivanco.jpg From Christian Vivanco, a pendant lamp inspired by algae. Says Vivanco “I’ve always felt a great curiosity about seaweed and coral reefs, their ability to generate a variety of colours and intensities”.

Algae resembles an aquatic algae that is suspended in the air (vs. water), constantly changing its shape, depending on the angle from where you look.

Made of two acrylic surfaces that embrace a compact fluorescent tube, that also hides the entire electronic system. The use of two layers diffuses the intensity of the internal colour.

Algae is part of a collection of lamps developed for Almerich, a Spanish company located in Valencia.
