“Is it furniture or sculpture? Mille-Feuille is both. The borderline is not clear: let’s call it a practical work of art. The different paint colours are a three-dimensional design element that makes this Schönbuch Edition an absolute eye-catcher in any room
This purist ‘layer look’ suggests oversize sheets of paper or card. But order prevails: all the layers are the same size, even if they seem to be stacked haphazardly.
Schönbuch has hand-built this creation by Emmanuelle Moureaux, a French architect and designer who lives in Tokyo, in a series of painstaking work stages. The result is a design highlight, seen for the first time at the “Handmade 2013” international wallpaper trade fair in Milan.
The Mille-Feuille chest of drawers comes in 3 sizes, with 2, 3 or 4 drawers. It is made from MDF and painted in 8, 12 or 21 different colours.” schoenbuch.com
