The work of dozens of international designers fills up Arkitektura In-Situ's enormous post-warehouse space. Everything from kitchen appliances to a tremendous range of spare modern furniture designs and home accessories, from the floor to the rafters - definitely worth a visit! And, unlike so much in this neighborhood, they have a large free parking lot open on the weekends, immediately next-door.

Respected for years as one of the most conservative and exacting of Bay Area furniture retailers, Slater/Marinoff & Co., whose 4th Street store in Berkeley has been a flagship of that neighborhood's development, recently opened a new shop in midtown Sacramento. Owner Patsy Slater says of her newly expanded empire that "we're not a mall kind of business" - which sums up the very comfortable, pleasant and above all classy atmosphere of her two stores.

Recent lines include a range of mostly Italian leather and microfiber sofas and chairs in a range of subtle tones and a few dark colors. The wooden items of their Asia Group are also particularly striking.
