They didn’t rush into it with ultrapremium Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon, the first new whiskey from the oldest distillery in Kentucky (founded 1797), joining their Kentucky Straight Bourbon to make a family of two in regular production. Woodford Reserve whiskey, the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby, is hand-crafted, small batch and uniquely triple-distilled (most America whiskeys are double-distilled), in custom crafted oak barrels made in their own cooperage. For Double Oaked, it’s a double-barreled aging process, starting in barrels made from oak seasoned outdoors for nine months, then toasted and charred on the inside, and finished in barrels toasted for twice as long as the first, then lightly charred. The result is a deep amber bourbon with reported flavors of honey, cream, vanilla, and elegant sweet aromatic notes. Bottled at 90.4 proof. $49.99. Rolling out soon.
