Soon to launch WiFi-blocking wallpaper does just what it sounds like it should: the conductive silver ink coating blocks specific electromagnetic frequencies, keeping some signals in and other signals out. Network security, and a shield against the onslaught of potentially health-hazardous signals streaming in from everywhere, are the obvious home or business applications that come to mind. The paper as pictured can be covered with other decoration without affecting the blocking effect. Developed by the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble in France, along with the Centre Technique du Papier, it is not the very first tech of its type, but the first to go commercial, licensed to Finland’s high performance materials specialist, Ahlstrom. Coming in 2013.
