“We are a serious urban winery dedicated to making and bottling affordable luxury artisan wines just five minutes from downtown San Francisco,” says Jim Mirowski (below), from urban winery, Treasure Island Wines. Established in 2007, on the same-named island in San Francisco Bay, TI was the first of four wineries now operating there, and one of about two dozen in the SF area. Grapes are purchased from all over California. Sustainability is central, with measures like using cool night air to chill their barrels, and sending organic waste to the urban garden across the way. They are all about putting the power of production back in the hands of people who you can actually meet and know. If you’re not in the area, their conscious fine wine is available online.
