Scott & Scott Architects Alpine Cabin

Backcountry snowboarding-inspired, built on a log column-anchored platform, intended to withstand up to 50′ of annual snow, Scott & Scott Architects Alpine Cabin is a stripped down, off-the-grid, rustic safe haven, complete with rough-hewn logs, weathered cedar exterior, raw wood, wrought iron and leather. Lumber was locally sourced, and the 100 sqm space was set on a platform to avoid gouging the landscape with excavation. This is the flagship launch project of the tiny Vancouver-based architectural start-up that designs for challenging locations—if you want to make your own minimalist statement in an unusual spot, just ask!
