With its hint of retro styling, the Puma Rudolf Dassler Ansbach shoe comes in a pair of sizzling new colourways, Inca Gold and Black Iris: leather uppers with suede patches, padded collar, finely detailed stitching, white rubber outsole. The Rudolf Dassler Collection resonates off of heritage sports, the pre-Puma era. If you recall, Dassler and his younger brother, Adolf “Adi” Dassler, were partners in the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory, founded in Germany in 1924. Dassler Shoe got its first major props supplying footgear for athletes in the 1928 Olympics, and went on to outfit superstar Olympian and black American Jesse Owen, who won four gold medals in track at the 1936 Games in Berlin, blowing Adolf Hitler’s plan to showcase his Aryan race ideals. Post-World War II, the brothers’ on-going not getting along led to a split, Adi to found Adidas, Rudolf to set down the Puma way.
