The trend to packing more power into tinier packages continues big time with the upcoming  Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, a next generation A-Class hot hatch, pictured here on the development track for 2013. The big news is the massive output of the all-new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, said to deliver up to 370 hp and 300 pound-feet of torque, for a capped top speed of 155 mph—a rumored performance option would uncork it for a more-than-zippy 174 mph top end. Compact class competition has the A45 squaring off against the BMW M135i and Audi RS3. This model may not be available in North America, but the new powertrain will likely appear in another compact model. As always, stay tuned!
