Mazda is wondering whether you’d like a monsterized version of their friendly little roadster, and the Mazda MX-5 GT Concept pops that question for the car still fondly known in North America as the Miata. Taking cues from the MX-5 GT racing division, the GT Concept features horsepower boosted from 167 to 205, for a reported 0-60 in a startling 3 seconds, and a top speed of 160 mph. Suspension has been beefed up for handling, aerodynamics improved, seats upgraded, and carbon fiber components integrated to lighten the load. For track use of this street-legal little beast, rollbars and racing slicks are available. First look is set for the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in a couple of days, with the GT Concept pitted against Aston Martin, Ginetta, Lotus, and Ferrari in the Goodwood hillclimb.
