Jameson Black Barrel Select Reserve, a distinct taste upgrade from the iconic basic Jameson that is the world’s top selling Irish whiskey, is both affordable and possibly hard to find.  Jameson is, of course, widely known for its single distillery, triple-distilled pure pot still methods. Black Barrel adds character and flavor with aging in former sherry and bourbon barrels, for a richer, deeper experience and what expert palates agree to be distinct flavours of spice and fruit—we particularly like “vanilla, toasted woods and spices, and stewed apples.” At about $44, it is only moderately more expensive than the standard Jameson blend, but it is distilled on only one day each year, so availability is limited.
