Metal and wood combine in the DV01 Bicycle, a concept design by Gothenberg, Sweden’s David Qvick. The single-speed commuter aims for functionality, while evoking a sense of pride in ownership, with familiar and comforting wooden handlebars and storage rack contrasting with the conventional metal construction. Beautiful and…thought-provoking. Here at MR, we wondered. Do the wooden parts easily chip, crack or break? Splinters? Oil or wax? Would we feel so warmly about the DV01 if everyone had one?
