The Dodge Challenger Rallye Redline is the classic American muscle car taking on modern practical realities: the 305 hp V-6 engine won’t go where a monster V-8 could, but it does get 27 mpg, and it sure looks hard. Squarely in the V-6 muscle car class (see also Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro for more of the US variant), Rallye Redline is based on the already substantial 2012 Dodge Challenger SXT Plus, with upgrades to look and performance. On the outside, the bold Redline Red stripe-with-pinstripes down the middle, hood scoops, a decklid spoiler, 20-inch wheels with a Redline Red lip and inner drum, and a choice of four colours: Bright Silver Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Bright White and Pitch Black. Inside, leather and heated seat options. Performance is enhanced with firmer suspension, quicker steering, wider, all-season performance tires, larger disc brakes, and a shorter rear axle ratio for better acceleration. Almost all of this is available as an SXT Plus upgrade for about the same price, but you won’t get the wheels. Or the stripes. If you get a jolt from the chase scene from Bullitt—and who doesn’t—this is one way to reconcile nostalgia with now. $28,745.
