Upgrading rather than reinventing the wheel, so to speak, the Bodum Bistro Pour Over Coffee Machine adds automation to the well-regarded manual pour-over method of making a fine cup of joe. Operation is simple and streamlined. First, water is heated in a handy remove-to-fill reservoir. The hot water travels through a minimal-heat-loss glass tube to a silicone showerhead that evenly distributes it over the coffee. A permanent, titanium-coated stainless steel filter eliminates the need for replacements, and avoids the essential oil absorption that comes with paper filters. Finally, it’s into a stainless steel-lined, double-walled thermos that keeps the fresh-brewed coffee warm without use of a heating element—over-brewing is prevented, and energy is saved. Jug and filter handles are heat-resistant silicone. The machine is rubber-coated. Capacity is a useful 1.2l/40oz. And the open back lets you see exactly what’s going on. A simple and effective new alternative in the coffee-making universe, in four styling colours.
