Barrel-Aged Cocktails

Not one to miss out on a down-home, DIY cocktail trend, Hudson Whiskey (from Tuthilltown Spirits, New York State’s first whiskey distillery since Prohibition) has jumped on Barrel-Aged Cocktails, supplying all the instructions and gear you need to age yer own. The mixology concept is simple: age premixed cocktails in charred oak barrels for a custom edge, letting the oak and char work their magic on flavor and colour. Start small with a glass bottle kit, with a hunk of charred oak stave inside, or go big with a 15-gallon whiskey- and rum-cured barrel. In between are convenient 1-, 2-, 3- and 5-liter mini barrels (above), medium toasted, equipped with a tabletop stand.
