The Auchentoshan distillery, known for its sweet, delicate, triple-filtered single malts from the Scottish Lowlands, has done a bit of  switch with its new offering, Auchentoshan Valinch Scotch Whiskey. This is a non chill-filtered, cask strength edition (as the label says!), bottled at 115 proof: no watering down, no tampering, straight from the cask, an Auchentoshan for the absolute purist. Its name, Valinch, comes from the pipette—the long metal tube—used to draw whiskey from the cask for sampling. This is a limited edition of 10,000 bottles worldwide.
