Brabus continues to advance the cause of electric automobiles and tiny city cars with the stylin’ 2012 Smart ForTwo Brabus Electric Drive, the latest and sportiest iteration of the ForTwo. The glossy black paint job, with tridion safety cell outlined in green (that’s the steel-reinforced, engineered-for-impact-protection passenger compartment), is enough to turn heads—well, any Brabus will still grab a lot of eyeballs!—added to by exterior and interior details like a lower ride, new front spoiler and rear apron, Brabus Monoblock VII alloy wheels, leather seats, sports steering wheel, and stainless steel sports pedals. Under the hood, an improved 30 kW magneto-electric motor delivering 82 horsepower and 100 lb/ft. of torque for peppier takeoffs. Range is around 90 miles per charge in city driving; filling her up from a 220VAC outlet takes 8 hours, while going from 20% to 80% happens in 3½, and it can be plugged into 120VAC as well. Look out for it later this year!

well … I think it is the first step (a little late) for SMART…?
