Urban Frequencies Wallpaper by Jill Malek

From Jill Malek:

(Jill Malek’s installation at Wanted Design during New York Design Week 2012.)

My new patterns were all about ‘urban frequencies’ — designs inspired by fluctuating movements in the city. These patterns included luci della citta (flickering lights), voyageur (inspired by flight maps), and dinner party (stains left behind when people come together. Our goal was to create an illusion of a clean white box from a distance, and has the viewer got closer to the structure, they could experience an explosion of textures and stories about the city. We created a space that enabled people to experience sequenced moments of the patterns through color gradations.
