The very clean, simple form is astonishing in its comfort of use. The innovative solution displaying the construction neither denies nor interferes with classic sofa typology. It is an innovation relying not on stylization but on the search for new solutions. There is a fascinating play between the external and internal elements.
Future Classics Competition
The aim of the undertaking was to select a designer, who would best interpret the competition’s motto – “Future Classics”, of all invited participants, by accomplishing the competition’s task, i.e. design of upholstered furniture for more than one person. Young but already acclaimed internationally designers, as well as design studios were invited to take part in the competition: Alessandro Dubini from Italy, Anderssen & Voll Studio from Norway, Philippe Nigro from France, Edward Van Vliet from Netherlands, Form Us With Love Studio from Sweden, Lucidi Pevere Studio from Italy, Onlymited also from Italy, and also two Poles: Paweł Grobelny and Tomek Rygalik.
The person who best reflected the idea of the competition turned out to be a Frenchman – Philippe Nigro. The winner presented a piece of furniture called “Floating sofa”.
Decision about the competition’s winner was taken by international jury, including: world famous designer Patrizia Urquiola, Agnieszka Jacobson Cielecka, Zuzanna Skalska, Miska Miller Lovegrove, Jerzy Porębski, Grzegorz Piątek and Comforty’s creative director Jolanta Pasynkiewicz.
Designers competed for the title of the winner and for implementation of a piece of furniture designed by them to the Comforty Living production line.
