Brutalist lamp: Gridlock Lighting by Philippe Malouin for Roll & Hill are hanging lights that borrow from the structurally raw, industrial flavor of brutalist architecture, with the repetitive grid assembled by hand from thousands of tiny brass parts.

Details: Created for Roll & Hill, a New York-based manufacturer of high-end contemporary lighting. Part of the Gridlock collection originally launched in 2011.

Designer: Philippe Malouin is a Canadian, based in London, with a bachelor's degree from Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands. He launched his studio in 2009, after working with Tom Dixon.
