Software-built: ZooM Lampshade by Michiel Cornelissen is a 3D-printed, a flat-packed expanding pentagon, created with generative CAD software from hundreds of repeating patterns in interlocking spirals.

Details: Translucent. In medium and large. Printed flat for fabrication efficiency. Can ship in an envelope. Flexible like fabric, rigid when expanded.

Designer: Industrial designer Michiel Cornelissen, with a stint at Philips Design, is based in Utrecht, Netherlands, and brings "hands-on knowledge of areas like generative design, customization and 3D printing."
