Bridge House by Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects
by Ted Savage / December 10, 2013
Robust and muscular retreat: Bridge House by Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects, a family vacation home in Canada, described by the architects as "robust and muscular" to weather tough outdoor conditions, spans two bedrock outcroppings near the sea, with a steel frame sheathed in wood board-and-batten.

Various levels of exposure are incorporated: outdoor and covered decks, covered balcony, screened porch and interior rooms. Sustainable systems include geothermal heating and rainwater harvesting from the roof. Photos by Greg Richardson. Via ArchDaily.
