MOCO LOCAL: Ying Gao in Montreal
by Harry / August 15, 2013
MOCO LOCO is 10 years on the web this year, to mark the occasion this week we're talking to designers from where we began, our home town of Montreal. We asked designer Ying Gao for her five favourite places in Montreal right now. Above, L'Oblique, an independent record store.

1. L'Oblique, an independent record store

"I've been buying my records at L'Oblique for years, they are so kind and they know everything about music, for sure."

2. Le Jubar

"My friend Chantal's vegan private club, you don't have to be vegan to enjoy her great cuisine."

3. atelier b

"Anne-Marie Laflamme and Catherine Métivier, the two young designer-owners of the atelier-boutique are talented, sweet and brave. The clothes and the place are beautiful."

4. Cinémathèque Québécoise

"This is where I see movies I can't see elsewhere. They still have a 35mm projector, do they?"

5. Westmount Square Towers

"Designed by Mies van der Rohe. They are great examples of ageless, modern building design."
