Carved Duplex by SPACECUTTER

A gutted and rebuilt third floor interior and rooftop addon create spacious volumes behind an 1800s tenement facade in Carved Duplex by SPACECUTTER, a makeover to an architect-inhabited 1800s tenement that originally offered long and narrow, railroad-style apartments.

The crumbling top floor was rebuilt with new steel joists. The initially grey COR-TEN cladding on the addition weathered to a matching rusty red. Via ArchDaily. Photos by Michael Vahrenwald.
