Video: Wearable Solar by Pauline van Dongen
by Ted Savage / June 21, 2013
A prototype coat and dress, loaded with enough solar panels to power a smartphone, Wearable Solar by Pauline van Dongen puts esthetics and wearability first, while providing the technology to charge a phone to 50% in one hour of full sun exposure.

A combination of leather and wool were selected for strength. Solar cell specialist Gertjan Jongerden, and students from the University of Applied Sciences in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, provided technical support.
